Time of flight Diffraction
Time-of-Flight Diffraction (TOFD) is an advanced and highly accurate Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) technique, primarily used for the precise detection and sizing of defects (especially cracks) in welds and thick materials. Unlike conventional Ultrasonic Testing (UT) which relies on reflected wave amplitude, TOFD relies on the time it takes for diffracted waves to travel.
